Birth is the closest we get to sitting at the feet of creation

Why I am
a midwife

Unpopular opinion ahead, but as midwives we are rebels and we say what we believe so here goes :)

As women we have been removed from the ritual and the right of passage that ultimately plays such a big role in our identity and our capability as the feminine.

It defines us as women.

It separates us from men.

Maybe if we can keep the ritual and victory that belongs to just us, we may no longer feel the need to compete with the masculine.

I serve to protect this ritual

when you hire a midwife, you are hiring someone who can witness you in your surrender while ensuring the safety of the container so that you can keep surrendering into the experience.
you dont need anyone to have a baby. you need someone to step in to help if that becomes a need.

My Midwife
story

I was born and raised on south african soil. my first degree was a bachelors in medical nutrition. I worked in the hospital as a clinical dietitian in internal medicine and nicu. As i was going through that degree we had a lot of exposure and education on whats called "the thrifty phenotype hypothesis". This basically focuses on the epi-genetic change that occurs in the fetus due to the in-utero environment. This fascinated me. I knew i wanted to be part of that work.

I spent about 10 years being a vagabond around the world. many of those years I was a horse midwife, delivering thoroughbred horse babies before becoming more serious about finishing my training.

I continued my education in fertility and functional medicine along my travels. I was living in New zealand at the time and decided to move to the states to persue licensure as a midwife so that i could have the functional practice of my dreams..... fertility to post partum.

I did my midwifery training and got my first license  in Salt Lake city, utah in 2021 and practiced as a primary midwife in different birthing centers before moving to Austin Texas in 2022. i have been licensed in idaho and have practiced there intermittently between my time in utah and austin.
